Rob Claus

Rob Claus

Lifeline Inspections and Consulting, Inc. is owned as was founded by Rob Claus. Rob has been a professional home inspector, trainer, lecturer, and consultant since 1990. Rob attended Illinois State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology – Construction Sequence.

During Rob’s 20 year career he was a Territory Manager for two and one half years for one of the country’s largest home inspection firms. Before that position he was the Vice-President of Operations and Director of Training for a National Home Inspection Franchisor and Manager of the Chicago operation for over 12 years. It was during these experiences Rob realized the importance of “customer first” management and inspection philosophy.

Rob founded Lifeline Inspections and Consulting, Inc. in fall of 2005. Lifeline has three important missions in the inspection industry. The first is to provide outstanding “customer first” inspections maintaining the highest standards and comprehensive inspection techniques. The second is to act as a consultant to the individual home inspector either just starting out in the home inspection business or the seasoned veteran looking for help with their operation. The third, is to train other professional home inspectors in the various nuance arts of customer satisfaction, safety, and business practices.

Lifeline Inspections and Consulting, Inc. and Rob Claus have a philosophy and method to how the inspection is to be performed. These inspections are more like a walking seminar of the home instead of a list of deficiencies. Rob believes very strongly in the American Dream and believes that a consumer should make their own decisions about the home purchase. He understand that there can be issues with every house and that with the proper understanding of the conditions and the “customer first” approach to explaining the condition of the issue a home buyer can buy their home intelligently.

Rob brings to both of these a wide range of experiences. Rob is currently a member of the State of Illinois Home Inspector Advisory Board. To become a member of this board you are appointed by the Governor. A member of this board is charged with the responsibility of maintaining the General Rules of the State Law pertaining to Home Inspections, act as an advisor to the Department of Professional Regulation and Professional Practice, and sit on committees that review complaints from the general public.

Rob has been training home inspectors since early 1995. Being in the franchise business it was important to provide the highest degree of training possible. Rob has had the opportunity to present or lecture at several National Conventions and trade shows. These include the Home Inspection and the Real Estate industries. Rob has also been a two-term President of the Northern Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors and a one term Director of Education of the Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Home Inspectors.

Rob is currently back providing education and experience to the Home Inspection community. He is a past instructor for Kaplan Professional Schools – Inspection Training Associates. Some of the classes he has taught include  pre-license basic training, HUD/FHA, Commercial Inspections, New Construction Inspections, Report Writing, Pool and Spa, and National Exam Preparation.
